· Out of class activities: assigned and supplementary readings 70% - preparation of case studies 30%.
七、课程考核方式
Students will build groups of four students*. The group assignments will be given during the course. The purpose is to develop a set of Powerpoint slides containing full details of the analysis made, and present those on the last two course days (10 minutes each). Per group, a short round of questions will be held (5 minutes). Each student is also asked to conduct a short peer and a self-assessment, according to the below instructions. Slides for exam presentation + self-/peer review are to be sent ultimately by 16 June lunch time.
As a preparation to the assignment, students can already start collecting below information. Per group, choose one of the below cities. Please arrange among yourselves that each group has a unique choice, so there is no overlap.
Anhui | Henan | Liaoning | Shanghai |
Beijing | Hubei | Macau | Shaanxi |
Chongqing | Hebei | Inner Mongolia | Shanxi |
Fujian | Heilongjiang | Ningxia Hui | Tianjin |
Guangdong | Hunan | Qinghai | Xinjiang |
Gansu | Jilin | Hong Kong | Tibet |
Guangxi Zhuang | Jiangsu | Sichuan | Yunnan |
Guizhou | Jiangxi | Shandong | Zhejiang |
For the chosen city, look up real prices, time and distance to transport 1 container (TEU) from the chosen city to all seven ports mentioned in the table below by truck (road), train (rail) or inland waterway (water). Fill in the results in the table below, and send by 12 June to Edwin.vanhassel [at] uantwerpen.be. Complete all yellow cells.

Peer/self-assessment
Peer assessment is the assessment of the team work by your fellow students; while self-assessment is the process of looking at oneself, viz. review your results/contribution within the team.
The aim is to encourage you to be more involved and take more responsibility for their learning within a team. Thus, students themselves are in the best position to indicate exactly how the team operates. These assessments are conducted twice. The peer/self-assessment, along with estimates of the accompanying lecturer count for 15/50.
So, you will need to assess yourself and the group on a number of criteria.
The action fields are:
1 Team member x formulates regularly constructive ideas to improve the research (report)
2 Team member x took regular spontaneous initiatives, instead of a wait and see attitude
3 Team member x always came well prepared for the team discussions
4 Team member x generally took an active part in the discussion
5 Team member x was open to criticism from the other team members
6 Team member x was always present at the meetings agreed
7 Team member x was in conflict/in discussions aimed at reaching a compromise
Subsequently, you mark the criteria for yourself.
The action scores are:
- Score 0: nuisance to the group
- Score 1: no help for the group
- Score 2: not as good as the rest of the group
- Score 3: average of the group
- Score 4: better than the group
