Academic Lecture on Low-Carbon Blended Cement Manufacturing Technology Utilizing Fine Limestone Powder

On June 9, Professor Yoon-Ho Cho from Chung-Ang University, Korea, delivered a lecture at the College of Transportand Communications. His topic was titled “Development of Low Carbon Mixed Cement Manufacturing Technology using Fine Limestone Powder (Portland Limestone Cement, PLC)”.

Professor Cho introduced PLC as a low-carbon alternative to Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). He explained key micro-mechanisms in hydration, including nucleation effect, chemical reaction, and particle packing. According to his data, PLC with ≤15% limestone, ≥360 kg/m³ cement, and ≥5000 cm²/g fineness meets pavement strength and durability requirements. Faculty and students also discussed sulfate resistance in marine environments.

The lecture offered valuable insights for the College’s research on low-carbon cement technologies.
