Students of the Joint Program between SMU and RMU Visit Yangshan Phase IV Automated Terminal

On November 27, 2025, the College of Transport and Communications of Shanghai Maritime University organized faculty and students to conduct a field visit and technical exchange at the Yangshan Phase IV Automated Terminal of Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd. The activity aimed to strengthen ties between the college and industry-leading enterprises, while broadening the international perspectives and practical understanding of faculty and students in areas such as smart ports and automated operations.


The delegation, led by college faculty, included 13 international students from countries such as Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, and The Gambia. At the Yangshan Phase IV Terminal, the group gained an in-depth understanding of the world-leading fully automated container terminal operation model. They observed up close the intelligent dispatch system, automated handling equipment, and achievements in green port construction. They also exchanged views with on-site technical personnel on topics including smart logistics and port digital transformation.


This visit not only enriched the students' professional knowledge but also enhanced their intuitive understanding of modernized and internationalized port operations, reflecting the college's ongoing commitment to internationalized teaching and collaborative exchange. After the event, both faculty and students expressed that they benefited greatly and extended their gratitude to Shanghai International Port Group for its support.


In the future, the College of Transport and Communications will continue to carry out such industry-academia exchange activities to promote deep integration of industry, education, and research, cultivating high-quality transportation talents with a global vision.
