Abstract:

The presentation provides an account on my research works on Arctic shipping. It consists of an introduction to the development of an model that assesses how oil spills from ships would affect the socio-economic impacts of the Arctic area, as well as using Bayesian Belief Network in measuring the risks associated with Extreme Weather Events associated with Arctic shipping.

 

Biography:

Adolf K.Y. Ng is a Professor and Senior Fellow at the Asper School of Business and St. John’s College of the University of Manitoba, Canada, respectively. His main research areas include transport geography, climate adaptation and resilience, infrastructure planning and management, global supply chains, and the Arctic. He is an editor of Maritime Policy & ManagementAsian Journal of Shipping and LogisticsThe Maritime Economist, and a founding member of the International Forum on Climate Change Adaptation Planning for Port, Transportation Infrastructure, and the Arctic (CCAPPTIA) (ccapptia.com).
