On July 4th, a Send-Off Party for exchange students from Regional Maritime University was held at the International Education College. The event was graced with the presence of representatives from the SMU International Office (Mr Wu Kaikai and Ms. Xiong Ling), Tianyuan Manganese Industry Group (Mr. Liu Huan), as well as College of Transport and Communications (Prof/Ms. Yang Jinhua and Ms. Guo Xianfeng) and the International Education College (Ms. Hu Fangfang).
Speaking on behalf of all teachers of the College of Transport and Communications, Prof/Ms. Yang praised the class of 2020 for being diligent students and encouraged them to be ambitious. She also said she was looking forward to seeing them again if they wish to pursue their master’s degree and that SMU will always be their home. Bernard, a student from Ghana also gave a touching speech, he said the past ten months he spent in China felt like ten years, the knowledge he gained from his major was more than he imagined and he also appreciates Chinese culture. He expressed sincerest gratitude on behalf of the class to SMU for a wonderful lifetime experience of learning.
The teachers and students shared pizza and drinks as they watched a video of memories made in the past ten months, and enjoyed the performance by Nazza Isaac. The room was filled with laughter and happy faces. It was indeed a joyous celebration.
