The aims of this speech are three-fold: first, to provide an overview on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), focusing on its key structural elements, such as transport corridors, city clusters, dry ports, infrastructure, zoning and area development; second, to highlight research trends and agenda of the BRI focusing on transport, ports and logistics in the context of the BRI, and third, to introduce the methods applied to the BRI papers under the review process of special issues of four international journals. My speech also shares with the audiences common weak points in setting mathematical models and applying methods to the BRI topics.
