Shipping Finance Engineering Laboratory

The Shipping Finance Engineering Laboratory was founded in 2009, aiming to provide necessary experimental and simulation environment for the carrying out of teaching activities and research work related with shipping finance projects. Currently (December 2012), the laboratory is able to provide the FFA analog experiment teaching environment and ship trading simulation experiment environment and provide assistance to the implementation of research work.

Ship Trading Simulation Environment is mainly used for the teaching of “International Ship Trading”, and the knowledge of shipping finance is necessary in the determination of ship value. The carrying out of the research on the underlying index of ship and its derivative product is one of the laboratory’s major works.

FFA Analog Trading Experimental Environment is mainly used for the course of “Shipping Derivatives and Risk Management”. In addition to the experiments of shipping risk management by applying shipping derivatives shipping, knowledge on other financial derivative products is introduced too.
