1. Teaching Objectives

The specialty aims to nurture high-level engineering and technical professionals, who have a solid knowledge basis in engineering mathematics, mechanics, English language skill and applied computer science, systematically master the basic theory and skills of traffic engineering, undertake the basic training for traffic engineers and upon graduation could undertake the work of transport development strategy and policy-making, transportation planning, traffic engineering design, traffic impact analysis, transportation management and control system development in national and provincial traffic administrative departments, urban construction planning department, planning and design departments, transportation construction and operation enterprises, port and logistics companies, transportation consulting firms or universities and colleges.


2. Learning Outcomes

Successful graduates from the program should obtain knowledge and abilities as listed below:

l  To possess solid basic knowledge in natural and social sciences, and have a good command of a foreign language; 

l  to master the basic theory and knowledge in transport engineering, able to undertake basic research, development or application of transport engineering science and technology; 

l  to master he basic theory and knowledge of engineering mathematics, mechanics, measurement science and applied computer science; 

l  capable of doing comprehensive analysis on transportation system and possess basic knowledge, understand theory and methods, demonstrate skill in transportation system planning, transport system design and transportation management for smooth, safe, comfortable, clean transport; 

l  to gain basic knowledge in and the practical ability for transport infrastructure (road, port and hub) planning and traffic design and management; 

l  familiar with national guidelines, policies and regulations on transport; 

l  innovative capacity development and training; 

l  proficiency in reading professional foreign literature; 

l  to master basic methods for document retrieval literature search, and capable of preliminary scientific research and practical work.
